An Asian version of the internet auction site e-bay has been launched by a Manchester graduate. The website blends the ancient traditions of the bazaar with the latest technology, selling everything from saris to DVDs.

Renu Kapila, 25, came up with the idea while getting ready for a friend’s wedding and realising the how much it costs Asian families to organise the traditional ceremonies, which can last up to three days.

After eight months’ research and then consultation with the site’s designers, Bolton firm Dubbed Creative, the auction element of the site has now gone online. {…}
